How should a balcony power plant be aligned?
Ideally, a balcony power plant should be oriented south to generate the most electricity. Orientations facing east or west are also useful, especially if the focus is on self-consumption of the generated electricity in the morning or evening. A north-facing orientation is not recommended in most cases.
Where does the electricity go if I don’t use it myself?
First, the electricity flows to your household appliances. If you don't use all of it yourself, it flows via the public grid to the nearest points of consumption, where it can be used by your neighbors, for example.
Are there funding options for balcony power plants?
Many municipalities, districts, and individual federal states offer subsidies for balcony power plants. It's therefore worth doing your research before purchasing. Do I have to register my plug-in solar system?
For smaller solar systems with an inverter output of up to 800 watts, a simplified registration process applies in Germany. You simply need to register your system in the Federal Network Agency's Market Data Register (MaStR) within one month of commissioning. Registration is done via an online form and is completely free of charge.
What are the advantages of a balcony power plant with storage?
A balcony power plant with storage allows you to store and use self-generated solar power even when the sun isn't shining. This increases independence from the energy market, reduces electricity costs, and contributes to climate protection. In addition, you can use up to 70% of your self-generated power, reducing CO₂ emissions.
When does the de minimis limit of 800 watts apply?
Solar Package 1 is fully valid since May 16, 2024. This means you can now legally upgrade your inverter to 800 watts.
Which tilt angle is right for solar modules?
